River Rother
River levels have risen as a result of heavy rainfall. Flooding of low lying property, roads and low lying land is expected imminently overnight tonight, Thursday 17 November 2022. We expect flooding to affect areas around Etchingham. River levels will remain high throughout the morning of Thursday 17 November. We are continuing to monitor the situation and our incident response staff are out on the ground checking and clearing any blockages and debris from the rivers. Further light rainfall is forecast tomorrow, but is not likely to cause further flooding impacts. This message will be updated by 11am on 17 November 2022, or as the situation changes.

This Flood Warning will remain in force overnight tonight, Thursday 3 November 2022 and into tomorrow, Friday 4 November 2022. The Rother remains high following the heavy rain earlier on Thursday. The river level is now receding steadily upstream of Etchingham and the peak reached Etchingham around 8pm on Thursday evening. There will be further heavy showers overnight tonight and these will keep river levels high in all locations. Any additional flood impacts should be confined to fields, footpaths and roads but showers could also generate localised surface water flooding. This message will be updated again by 8am on Friday 4 November 2022.
